The PDC World Darts Championship continues today with an afternoon session that should bring some exciting action. The headline match is a second round clash between England’s James Wade and Canada’s Matt Campbell.
The 34-year-old Campbell was forced to dig deep in his first round match against Lourence Ilagan who fought back from two sets down only for the Canadian to claim a narrow 3-2 victory. Wade, meanwhile, enters the competition at this stage due to his superior world ranking.
The 40-year-old is looking to get his tournament off to a fine start emulating so of the heavy hitters like Gerwyn Price, Luke Humphries and Michael Smith who have all advanced into round three.
There are also three first round matches taking place this afternoon with Ian White facing Tomoya Goto, Ritchie Edhouse playing Jeffrey de Graa and Keegan Brown going up against Boris Krcmar.

Both legs of the second set are his.
Ian White 0 (1)-1 (0) Tomoya Goto
The match resumes with Goto up first. He starts with a 43 which isn’t too good. White lands a 140 and looks quietly confident. He keeps the pressure on after the next six darts as Goto begins to increase his scoring.
180! Ian White is on fire, he leaves himself a checkout of 99 and could break the throw.
Got em! Whit hits treble 17, double 16, double 8 and takes the first leg!
Ian White 0 (0)-1 (0) Tomoya Goto
You have to say, White threw that one away.
Goto took the initiative with some strong throws but once he missed the double 6 White should have capitalised.
He didn’t though and the momentum is now with the 27-year-old who will be throwing first in the second set. If he wins this one too then he’ll be the big favourite to take the match.
Ian White 0 (0)-1 (0) Tomoya Goto
The first set comes down to the final leg. Goto puts the pressure on with an opening 140, he can only follow it up with a 55 though and brings White back into the leg.
A 96 keeps him in touch of his opponent but Goto is the first to set up a checkout. He leaves himself on 126 which is tricky.
A 137 from White puts some pressure on.
Goto hits, treble 19, hits it again and then misses double 6! What can White do? He needs 99. He nails the treble 19, onto the 10 and then misses the final double!
It’s all misses. Goto misses double 6 with three darts and leaves himself on double 3. White then fails to checkout with three more darts. This is tense.
Goto comes back to the oche, double 3 needed, he hits! Goto takes the first set against the throw.
Ian White 0 (2)-0 (2) Tomoya Goto
Both of White’s legs have been won in 17 darts. He’ll need to improve that stat if he wants to win this match. Goto will only get better as the match goes on.
The man from Japan seems to be scoring well but White has the bit between his teeth. A 135 is followed up by a maximum 180! He’s taking the momentum away from Goto bt a miss on double 19 leaves the 27-year-old with a chance to checkout.
He does!
Ian White 0 (2)-0 (1) Tomoya Goto
180! Ian White is back in control. The Ally Pally crowd goes wild as the Diamond hits a maximum but his enthusiasm is short lived as Goto follows him into the three treble 20s.
White stays composed and leaves himself 32 for a checkout. He misses the first dart, misses the second and bails out with a simple 16.
Goto has 143 for a tough checkout which ends as he hits the treble 5. When he comes back to the oche, White finishes off the leg.
Ian White 0 (1)-0 (1) Tomoya Goto
Consistent scoring from Goto sees hmi work his way to 216. White’s response is fine, treble 20, treble 20, but his last dart drops out of the board.
Goto doesn’t let White back in, he works his way down to 76 then checks out in two darts!
Ian White 0 (1)-0 (0) Tomoya Goto
White fails to check out 129 and leaves Goto with an opportunity. He hits 18, lands the treble then misses the bull!
That was close.
