Premier League stadium unrecognisable with CAR PARK between fans and the pitch in incredible throwback pics | The Sun

THIS Premier League stadium looks unrecognisable with a car park at the side of the pitch.

Plenty of clubs in the top-flight have demolished old grounds and moved to more modern arenas in recent years.

But this side has remained where their roots are and modernised the stadium into a 40,343 seater home.

This incredible throwback photo dates back to 1993 and shows cars parked on a running track behind the goal.

Soon after the snap was taken the stands were moved far closer to the pitch.

The stadium is of course Stamford Bridge.

Blues owner Todd Boehly has plans to further renovate Stamford Bridge and has recently purchased 1.2 acres of land next to the ground for a reported £80million.

They won't take possession of the site until 2025.

The stadium revamp has already caused controversy as Chelsea have bought land that includes the historic Sir Oswald Stoll Mansions, where around 100 military veterans and war widows live.
