Rangnick offers brutal assessment of 'selfish, over-inflated and poor quality' Man Utd squad in dossier for Ten Hag

RALF RANGNICK will prepare a "no holds barred" dossier slamming Manchester United's squad for new boss Erik ten Hag, according to reports.

The Red Devils' interim manager is entering his final weeks in the job, and has been desperately unimpressed with his team.

As part of his duties in easing the handover to Ten Hag, Rangnick has been asked by director of football John Murtough and CEO Richard Arnold to prepare a dossier on his squad for his successor.

According to the Mirror, he won't hold back.

They claim that Rangnick believes he has been "hung out to dry" by his squad during his five months in charge.

He reckons that some players have "ignored" his instructions – and thinks the dressing room is "selfish, over-inflated, lacking quality and too powerful".

It's claimed that Rangnick is "staggered" by the lack of "professionalism" on show at Old Trafford.

The 63-year-old thinks that United are in desperate need of a clear-out, with an emphasis that should be placed on recruiting "young, hungry players".

Rangnick believes United players aren't fit enough, and that pundit Gary Neville was right when he called his beloved side "broken".

The Red Devils have long favoured an approach of signing big-name, high-profile players – even if they are coming towards the end of their careers.

Rangnick wants Ten Hag to be able to sign young players that fit the profile of high-energy football.

He hasn't been at all impressed with his side's porous defence, and doesn't believe that Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Eric Bailly or Phil Jones are good enough – while he also possesses doubts over Victor Lindelof.

The former Schalke and RB Leipzig boss hasn't been overly impressed by Harry Maguire either, but believes the club invested too much in him to simply write him off.

Rangnick thinks United should sign two "high energy" players in addition to a playmaker this summer.

The Red Devils have signed a number of ageing forwards in recent years – namely Edinson Cavani, Cristiano Ronaldo and Odion Ighalo.

Rangnick feels that they need a new central striker entering their prime – while he reckons Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho should improve.

Midfielder Scott McTominay gave an insight into the troubles at Man United while speaking to BT Sport after yesterday's game.

He said: "There are a whole lot of problems in terms of players, staff, everything higher up.
