A stomach-churning video shows a Russian powerlifter fracturing both of his knees while attempting to squat approximately 882 pounds.
Alexander Sedykh attempted the lift at the World Raw Powerlifting Federation European Championship last weekend, but his knees buckled as he began to squat and suffered the horrifying injury. Sedykh can be heard screaming in the video after his knees hit the ground.
Sedykh was taken to a hospital where he needed six hours of surgery to repair the damage, and it will be a while before he’s back on his feet.
“The main thing is that I must lie motionless in bed for two months,” he said, according to a post on the WRPF Facebook page. “Then I’ll be taught how to walk again.”
