Southgate's Channel 4 interview suddenly turns awkward after England's Euro 2024 qualifying draw with North Macedonia | The Sun

CHANNEL 4's interview with Gareth Southgate turned awkward when Jules Breach threw to Joe Cole following England's 1-1 draw with North Macedonia.

The Three Lions came from behind to earn a point away from home in an underwhelming display on Monday night.

Southgate insisted after the match he had "learned quite a bit" from the games against Malta and North Macedonia.

But it was a somewhat cringe moment during his Channel 4 interview that got social media talking.

After one of the England manager's answers, presenter Breach threw to pundit Cole who did not appear ready with a question.

A moment of silence followed, before the ex-Chelsea man Cole asked: "So you didn't ask, what are you doing for Christmas?"

This left Breach in stitches and also earned a chuckle from Southgate who responded: "What are you doing?"

Cole then added: "No, she threw to me there and I didn't have a question.

"So I thought I'd just ask you that."

England fans could be heard chanting "Channel 4 is f**king s**t" during their live coverage.
