Chelsea defender Thiago Silva has apologised for his performance following the disappointing 4-1 defeat to Newcastle on Saturday.
The Magpies scored three second half goals without reply to send Mauricio Pochettino’s side to a crushing defeat, with the Brazilian at fault for Joelinton’s 61st-minute strike.
Silva’s sloppy pass was cut off by his countryman and he made no mistake in putting the ball past Robert Sanchez to give the home side a 3-1 lead.
After the game, the 39-year-old took to social media to send an emotional message apologising for his and the team’s display at St James’ Park.
‘I’m devastated. It wasn’t a good day for us.’ The centre-back said.

Newcastle opened the scoring in the first half through Alexander Isak, before Chelsea drew level through a Raheem Sterling free-kick.
However, in the second half Eddie Howe’s side took the lead when Jamaal Lascelles headed past Sanchez, then a minute later Joelinton added the third.

The Blues were then reduced to ten men after captain Reece James was shown a red card following two bookable offences.
He will now miss next week’s home clash with Brighton, as will Marc Cucurella, who was booked for dissent and racked up his fifth yellow card of the season.
Anthony Gordon completed the comprehensive win, netting seven minutes from time to compound the misery for the west London side.
