Utd and Chelsea trail Monaco defender Benoit

United and Chelsea are both interested in Monaco centre-back Benoit Badiashile, according to reports.

However the Ligue 1 side are demanding a fee of at least £42.5million for the highly rated 21-year-old.

Chelsea are reportedly interested in Badiashile after Barcelona hijacked their £55million deal with Sevilla for Jules Kounde.

Rumours suggest Thomas Tuchel has already started to target alternatives as the Blues want to bring in three centre-backs, they have only signed one so far in Kalidou Koulibaly.

Man Utd are also keen on Badiashile to bolster their defensive options claim L'Equipe.

Erik ten Hag has already purchased Lisandro Martinez from his former club Ajax but amid claims United are looking to offload the likes of Eric Bailly and Phil Jones another addition may be needed.

    Timo-out to Juventus?

Timo Werner’s Chelsea misery could finally be about to come to an end following news that Juventus are interested in the forward.

In fact, the Blues have already offered the German to the Serie A giants this summer as part of a cash plus player offer for defender Matthijs de Ligt.

However, the Old Lady preferred a straight deal for the Dutchman, who eventually joined Bayern Munich.

Juve have not been put off Werner though and could soon make an offer, especially if they fail in their bid to re-sign Alvaro Morata.

    Transfer watch: Antony to United?

Manchester United are reportedly ready to make one final bid for Antony despite Ajax setting an asking price in excess of £65m.

And, while Old Trafford sources have been keen to point out that the forward would not be arriving as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, there still seems some work to do if either player is to feature against Brighton on the opening weekend.

Milan no closer to De Ketelaere

AC Milan have once again been thwarted in their pursuit of Club Brugge's Charles De Ketelaere.

The Rossoneri are understood to have agreed terms with the attacking midfielder, but the two clubs remain at loggerheads over a transfer fee.

Representatives of each met in Switzerland earlier today, but discussions ended without a resolution.

With the deal held up, there is the suggestion that Leeds – interested in the Belgian earlier this summer – may be able to take advantage.

Meanwhile, Tottenham's Japhet Tanganga has revealed that he wants to join Milan 'at all costs', according to Calciomercato.

    Frenkie favours the Blues

Long-term Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong has finally agreed to leave Barcelona for the Premier League – but only if it means joining Chelsea.

Spanish outlet Sport reveal that the Dutchman is willing to depart the Nou Camp, but not to the club that want him – and that leaves both Barca and United in a quandary.

The Catalans are keen to sell the 25-year-old to help ease their financial issues that include the £17m they owe De Jong in deferred wages.

However, Chelsea’s speculative bid is understood to be much lower than that of the €80m the Red Devils were prepared to pay.

United still want the player, but seem unable to convince him that his future lies at Old Trafford.

And so after weeks of bluff and bluster, both Barcelona and Manchester United could end up losing out.

All Chelsea need to do is act smart, and they could pick up De Jong on the cheap – and he can play at centre-half.

    Chelsea trio up for sale

Chelsea have told three of their reserve players that they can leave the club, reports Nizaar Kinsella.

Xavier Mbuyamba, Matt Miazga and Baba Rahman have all been put up for sale by the Blues, who are conscious of the new loan limits that have been stipulated by FIFA.

In previous seasons, the Londoners have loaned out dozens of the players stockpiled at Stamford Bridge.

However, there is now a limit of eight players that can leave a club on loan each season, and that will be reduced to six by the start of the 2024-25 campaign.

The new ruling does not apply to either homegrown players or those under the age of 21.

    Blues move on to Dumfries

Another hour, another defender linked with Chelsea.

According to the Evening Standard, the Blues have turned their attention to Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries.

The Dutch wing-back notched up five goals and five assists in Serie A last season, and has recently been linked with Manchester United.

However, the only way his arrival would solve Chelsea’s centre-back crisis would be if it was with the intention of shifting Reece James into a more central position.

Dumfries’ teammate Milan Skriniar has also been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

    Kounde saga nearing its end

Reports coming out of Spain suggest Barcelona are close to announcing Jules Kounde.

Gerard Romero believes that the negotiations between the Catalans and Sevilla are now entering their final phase, and will soon bring an end to the summer’s main transfer saga.

Chelsea had an offer for the French centre-back accepted some time ago, but the player has held out for a move to the Nou Camp.

And while Barca have had trouble putting together a financial package for Kounde, but those issues now appear resolved.

It’s time for the Blues to look elsewhere.

And Arsenal wish to see what the midfielder can do before they commit to a permanent transfer.

    Transfer watch: Cornet to Forest?

Twelve signings down, could Burnley's Maxwel Cornet become Nottingham Forest's 13th?

It would certainly be unlucky for some, particularly Fulham and Everton, who are also interested in the Ivorian.

The 25-year-old is expected to make a decision on his future this week, and it is said that – quite simply – the best offer will win the race.

The incident earned the fiery striker a four-month ban, but the Italian defender later said he held no grudges against his opponent.

Which is just as well as they could very soon be teammates.
