Vincent Kompany return to Man City to help desperate Pep Guardiola’s defensive crisis: With Anderlecht reign a shambles would it be best for both parties? – The Sun

MANCHESTER CITY are in a mini crisis and boss Pep Guardiola has back problems.

Aymeric Laporte and John Stones are out at centre-half along with Benjamin Mendy and Kyle Walker.

The Premier League champions are already eight points behind rivals Liverpool in the title race, with just eight matches gone.

So how could Guardiola – whose team has already conceded nine times this campaign – cure his back pain?

Vincent Kompany left the Etihad at the end of last year, and has since taken up a role as manager of old side Anderlecht.

But he is struggling, and there are already calls for him to be sacked by a large majority of the Belgian team’s fan-base.

Rumours have gone around Manchester that their former captain could be welcomed back as a player to solve their problems.

The 33-year-old has stripped himself of managerial duties on match days, when he is playing to focus on his performances.

If he does end up leaving Anderlecht, where does he go from there?

Is that it, does he pack it in and retire from football completely?
