VALOUR FC star William Akio left his team-mates stunned and furious after he denied the Canadian Premier League side a certain goal.
The 23-year-old bizarrely booted the ball away just as Alessandro Riggi's effort was set to cross the line against HFK Wanderers on Sunday.
With the scores level in the 18th minute, the hosts looked poised to break the deadlock at the Investors Group Field after Riggi beat goalkeeper Christian Oxner to the ball.
The 28-year-old was picked out by Moses Dyer on the six-yard line, with his strike trickling goalwards despite Oxner's best efforts to keep it out.
And after being clattered by the shot-stopper, the Canadian forward got back to his feet as he prepared to celebrate his opener.
But his jubilation soon turned to despair as the onrushing Akio booted the ball away for a throw-in in a moment of madness.

It appeared that the South Sudan international was under the impression that the ball had already crossed the line, and he kicked it away to celebrate.
Though the 23-year-old could have tried to tap the ball home instead but got his effort totally wrong.
Immediately after the incident, his team-mates were left with their head in their hands as they desperately claimed in vain that the ball had crossed the line.
Thankfully for Akio, who has scored twice in 13 matches in the 2022 season, his blushes were spared late on as Dyer scored the winner in the 84th minute.
