Danis began training for jiu-jitsu at the young age of 15 following a street fight where he managed to pull off a choke.
The American star went through the belt system at Jamie Cruz' academy before moving to New York to train full-time at Marcelo Garcia's academy in New York.
By the age of 19, Danis had earned himself a black belt after wins at the sport's most prestigious competitions.
And Danis' career fully took off when he was invited to become a coach and a main grappling partner of MMA legend Conor McGregor ahead of his epic showdown against Nate Diaz in 2016.
