Wrexham AFC players were starstruck after meeting comedian and actor Will Ferrell.

Ferrell, 54, paid a visit to the team’s stadium locker room ahead of a game in the latest episode of ‘Welcome to Wrexham.’

‘Do you guys like Ryan and Rob or not really?’ Ferrell asked as the camera panned to the smiling players. ‘You can be honest.’

Ferrell’s question was met with laughter and no response. The Anchorman star gave the players a hand gesture suggesting their impartial stance as an answer. ‘Rob is good. Ryan? Dodgy Canadian.’

Actors Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds became co-owners of Wrexham AFC in 2021

‘Welcome to Wrexham’ first aired in 2022. The documentary series followed McElhenney and Reynolds, two actors, as they took on their new roles as co-owners of the Welsh football club.

Founded in 1864, Wrexham AFC is the oldest club in Wales and third-oldest club in soccer. Wrexham played in National League, the fifth tier of the English soccer system, when McElhenney and Reynolds first took ownership. In Hollywood fashion, Wrexham has since been promoted to the EFL League Two.

During his visit, Ferrell also went to the club’s training room as a player was getting a leg massage. ‘That is a beefy thigh there,’ Ferrell said about the player’s leg. ‘Is that relaxing or painful or both?’ Ferrell asked after the laughter subsided.

‘Bit of both,’ the player responded.

Ferrell continued to let the jokes fly, asking a staff member across the room if he ‘needed a rub down’.

‘These are magic hands’ Ferell joked.

Ferrell’s relationship with football goes far beyond his 2005 film ‘Kicking & Screaming’.

Two years after its founding in 2014, Ferrell became a co-owner of Los Angeles FC in MLS. LAFC won the MLS Cup in 2022 after beating the Philadelphia Union in penalties.

While ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ is 15 episodes into its second season, the team made their first trip to the United States in July and defeated LA Galaxy II, 4-0, in Los Angeles.
