WWE interested in signing NJPW star Kushida with legend's contract expiring next year

The 35-year-old is one of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s biggest stars of all-time bit is believed to be out of contract next year.

However, Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims he is now drawing interest from WWE.

And Triple H is believed to be hoping to recruit the veteran to the NXT roster.

Journalist Dave Meltzer said: “Unlike other New Japan guys who they are after, this is one where the confidence level is at the point where it’s being talked about more prominently.

“At least one idea has been talked about which would involve him at NXT.”

Kushida is the current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and he has been a cornerstone of the hugely-popular NJPW division since joining in 2010.

The Tokyo-born ace is also a specialist in mixed martial arts and is undefeated in MMA competition.

Kushida is already well-known to American audiences having previously held the World Television Title in Ring of Honor.

And his deadly submission and high-flyer skills would no doubt make him a huge fan fave in WWE.
