A Place In The Sun’s Scarlette Douglas was tasked with finding the ideal holiday home in Cyprus for her guest Linda on Thursday’s instalment of the Channel 4 property searching programme. Linda, from Scotland, brought her sister Marie to the west coast of the island to help her make a decision. But could Scarlette find Linda the perfect place within her £90,000 budget?
The first property on their search in Paphos was a one-bedroom apartment with an open plan kitchen, double bedroom and a shower room.
While Linda was not enthralled by the appearance of the outside of the apartment as it stood next to a building site, she was impressed with the modern interior.
Following the viewing, Linda explained while she liked the layout of the kitchen, she found the apartment was too small for her needs.
She said Scarlette could improve on the next property by finding a home with a bigger balcony, larger kitchen and possibly a swimming pool.
Scarlette found Linda an apartment with a communal pool for the second property, and the sisters thought it looked “beautiful” from the outside as it was covered in blue shutters.
However, it was on the market for £96,000, which was over Linda’s budget, but that didn’t stop her from exploring the inside of the apartment.
“The pool, the view, I love it and I am sure [my partner] Jim will absolutely love it too,” Linda told Scarlette.
For the third property, the presenter took the sisters further inland as houses were 10 per cent cheaper than properties on the coast.
“The property we are actually going to look at is a townhouse,” Scarlette explained.
“I know you said you wanted a balcony outside the bedroom, and it’s overlooking the communal pool as well.”
The townhouse boasted stunning sea views, a bright and open living room, a kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom.
Linda, who adored the inside of the spacious property, said: “Well done Scarlette.”
The sisters were thrilled with the home and Scarlette asked how she could improve for their fourth and fifth property viewings.
Linda gushed: “It’s beautiful, it really blew us away and is just stunning. It’s everything I was looking for. Honestly, it’s just amazing and you’ve excelled yourself.”
Scarlette asked Linda: “Is this the number one property and the one to beat? Where do I go from here now? How can I improve on this place?
Linda quipped: “I don’t know, I don’t know if I even want to see anything else. Let’s just stop, I don’t know how you can improve.”
However, Linda ended up viewing two more properties with Scarlette but her heart was still with the third property.
Halfway through the fifth and final viewing of a poolside apartment, Linda admitted: “I think my mind is made up in all honesty, this is a great option, but in my heart of hearts, it’s the townhouse I want.
“I think if I am honest with myself I made my mind up at the townhouse. When I went in I just fell in love with it.”
The following day Linda put in an offer for the townhouse for £75,000 but it was declined.
However, the buyers were willing to accept an offer of £76,000 which Linda instantly agreed to.
A Place In The Sun continues weekdays on Channel 4 at 3pm.
