Alastair Campbell apologises after he ‘accidentally announces’ Queen’s death in Good Morning Britain blunder

Alastair Campbell accidentally announced that Queen Elizabeth had died in a blunder on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday 12 May.

The presenter, who has beed hosting the ITV morning show alongside Susanna Reid this week, made the gaffe as he chatted with Vinnie Jones, who appeared via video link on the show.

He said: “We talked a lot about Prince Philip after the death of the Queen.”

As moments passed, Alistair addressed his mistake and later corrected himself.

Presenter Alistair told viewers: “Can I just say something, I think I may have accidentally announced the death of the Queen. I meant Prince Philip, of course.”

Susanna then reassured him: “I think people understood exactly what you meant.”
