Amanda Holden admits to not so sexy side of filming Sex – A Bonkers History

Amanda Holden teases Sky History’s Sex: A Bonkers History

Sex: A Bonkers History saw Amanda Holden not exactly feeling her best self during the entirety of filming.

The tongue-in-cheek series explores 2,500 years’ worth of “in-the-sack” antics from the Greeks and the Egyptians to 3rd-century India and the 1960s.

Teaching viewers all about what everyone’s ancestors got up to in days gone by is none other than Britain’s Got Talent star Amanda and historian Dan Jones.

Together, they look at attitudes towards sex, flirting and what was deemed attractive during these times.

While the show may be about anything and everything sexual, Amanda was feeling far from sensual.

Amanda and Dan were discussing with Good Morning Britain journalist Richard Arnold how filming had wrapped up in January, which meant some unpleasant shooting.

“It was b****y cold. You know for the bits with the green screen, I had a hot water bottle strapped to my back”, Amanda said.

“And I have a tinge of green on my face because there was a green screen and I kept looking at it like, ‘Was I feeling sick?’

“No, there was a green screen and a hot water bottle strapped to me, that’s not sexy, it’s really not.”

She is partnered up with historian, novelist and podcaster Dan who couldn’t help but sing her praises when it came to hosting alongside the presenter and actress.

In a statement, Dan said: “Amanda is a dream host – she’s a great laugh, who’s always ready with a penetrating question and a fresh take on the past.

“Meanwhile, I’ve had a blast throwing myself into some pretty weird and wild situations – all in the name of research.

“It’s the best historical fun I’ve had with (most of) my clothes on.”

As well as Amanda and Dan finding out things for themselves, they will be joined by a number of experts to shine a light on the history of sex.

These include author Anne O’Norris, Dr Kate Lister, as well as the late executive of Anne Summers Jacqueline God CBE, who had her last ever interview on the show.

She sadly died of breast cancer, aged 62, back in March, after seven years of treatment.

Sex: A Bonkers History premieres on Monday, September 18, at 9pm on Sky History.
