Bake Off fix row as viewers accuse star of ‘faking’ illness

Great British Bake Off: Amos is eliminated

Great British Bake Off has been thrown into a fix row following an incident that happened on the latest episode of the show.

On Wednesday night, Channel 4 viewers saw the contestants tackle chocolate week as they put their baking skills to the test.

However, during the tricky technical where they were tasked with making identical cheesecakes, it became clear Tasha Stones was struggling.

The 27-year-old, who is the show’s first-ever deaf contestant, was seen commenting on the heat in the tent before dropping to the floor.

Before being rushed outside, Tasha said: “It’s so hot, I think I need some air.”

Sitting outside with host Alison Hammond, Tasha told the medical crew she had a migraine the night before.

After examining the contestant, it was decided she should go home and not continue with chocolate week.

Although the other bakers were worried for Tasha’s health, viewers have accused the 27-year-old of faking it to avoid the risk of going home, especially as her first bake didn’t go too well.

Taking to Twitter, @jodie_clough fumed: “Errrrm not happy that Tasha gets to stay on… free pass to next week. NOT FAIRRRRRR.”

@Supermac82 tweeted: “I’d be ill too if I messed up my first bake and then screwed up my second one.”

@KarenDowli47917 added: “I’m not buying what Tasha is selling! She was continually messing up her chocolate and IMO faked being sick. Totally unfair someone goes this week!! [pic] If Tasha doesn’t go… nobody should go!!”

However, there were some viewers who felt sorry for the baker and sent her well wishes.

@Suzy_H14 said: “I think Tasha done well to even get to the tent after a migraine, I can’t usually get out of bed after one.”

@2001joe_mendy commented: “So Tasha will be returning next week. Get well soon, Tasha.”

Despite Tasha’s sudden illness, the bakers carried on with their challenges as Matty Edgell was crowned this week’s star baker for his chocolate box showstopper.

Judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood revealed that they had decided to suspend eliminations, with two bakers going home the following week.

The Great British Bake Off continues next Tuesday on Channel 4 from 8pm.
