BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty fell about the place laughter as host Charlie Stayt struggled with the pronunciation of the Spanish sausage.

The 47-year-old simply could maintain her composure as Charlie attempted many variations of the word chorizo.

The food topic became a discussion as the twosome discussed some of their favourite headlines, with Naga's co-host wanting to address "things that are just not true".

Holding up a picture of the salami-like meat, he said: "Maybe people have seen this story before, I've actually seen it on the internet, there was a picture which was apparently was reporting to be a picture in deep space and it ended up that in fact it was a slice of chorizo."

Picking up on accent when trying to speak about the Spanish delight, Naga poked fun by asking: "What was it a slice of Charlie?"

In what appeared to be an Italian accent he proudly said: "It was chorizo," before switching to another European initiation, adding: "Or chorizo."

With his co-star no chuckling away, Charlie continued: "You know what I'm saying, it was a piece of sausage basically."

Charlie went on to explain the hoax had been carved out by a well respected French scientist and director of research for atomic energy had duped the online world by posting a picture of the delicacy, claiming it was a deep space image.

Because he had been a well respected figure, many didn't even think to question the striking resemblance of the picture.

According to the host, the scientist had purposely posted the picture as a warning to remind people not to believe everything on the internet.

Meanwhile, this weekend Naga Munchetty dazzled Instagram follows as she took to her social media account sharing a number of fun-filled images from her weekend of golf with friends.

She captioned the "beautiful" display: "Had a brilliant few days in Sunny Scotland playing with old and new friends. We played well, laughed and came 2nd in the Pro-Am – missed out by 1 shot!"
