David and Victoria Beckham's new tell-all Netflix documentary is set to land on the streaming site on 4 October, with the famous couple opening up about everything from their marriage to their careers for the first time.
Ex-footballer David, 48, and former Spice Girls star Victoria, 49, are one of the most famous couples in the world and while they've both enjoyed lengthy careers in the spotlight, they tend to keep details of their marriage under wraps.
The new four-part series, titled Beckham, will see the pair revisit some of their hardest times together – including rumours of marital issues.
Fisher Stevens, who directed the series, has revealed it was "unpleasant" to question David and Victoria about their marriage, but the duo did get into it.
Speaking about the uncomfortable discussions, Fisher said: "It wasn't pleasant, but we got into it." He added to The Sunday Times: "For me, I approached it as, 'How did your marriage stay together?' and you'll see how he responds."
It's also been revealed that nothing was off the table when it came to David and Victoria's documentary, with the couple agreeing to tell producers whatever they wanted to know about.
John Battsek, a producer on the series, explained: "They were both signed up to telling us whatever we wanted to know. I'm sure you'll say, 'Of course you would say that.' But they were. There was no, 'You will not ask that or do that.'
"Fisher and I thought that might be the case, but we were clear from the start that we would only do this if we could go in any direction we wanted. And we did."
In the series, Victoria and David emotionally reveal they received kidnap threats after their son Brooklyn's birth in 1999 and the former footballer also speaks about the backlash he faced after getting a red card in a crucial 1998 World Cup match when England played Argentina and how that impacted him.
Mum-of-four Victoria also speaks about her initial attraction to footballer David, revealing that he caught her eye as he appeared to be a "family man". The couple first met at a charity football match in 1997.
Speaking in a teaser clip, Victoria said: "The fact I went to the games really was to – some might say I stalked him, I would say see him."
She saw David after a match by the bar in the Manchester United players' lounge and he instantly caught her eye – sparking the beginning of their lengthy romance.
She said: "When I saw him in the footballers' lounge, all the other footballers were at the bar, and he was standing and talking to his parents, and I'm very close to my family, and I loved that side to him."
