Big Brother has made its long-awaited return to UK television since it was axed back in 2018, however, one change has left longtime fans rather disappointed.
Unlike previous series of the show, first on Channel 4 and then Channel 5, the ITV take on the show has a pre-recorded launch show.
Previous editions had always have live launches, and this change has left viewers rather disappointed, as they took to social media.
Posting to X, formerly Twitter, one viewer complained: "cannot articulate how much of an awful decision it was to pre-record #BigBrotherUK and edit the launch #bbuk But can we please hear a little commotion for AJ’s bodysuit"
"Okay I’m not a fan of the launch not being live it’s far too edited. #bbuk" added another, while a third penned: "Probably too soon to say but this isn’t working without the live element, Davina or Emma #BBUK"
And a fourth added: "Hating the pre-recorded vibe already. Execute! #BBUK"
The new series of the show is hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best, with the original narrator Marcus Bentley, making a return to show.
Ahead of the launch, Marcus opened up to OK! about his, and his family's excitement, at the show's return, telling us: "My children are in their early twenties and it’s been a big part of their life. My youngest were babies when the show first started and they’ve grown up with it.
“They didn’t watch Big Brother much, but my youngest daughter gets a lot of her Big Brother knowledge from TikTok. She says, ‘Oh my God dad, I can’t believe your voice is on this clip!’”
And teasing what’s to come, Marcus shared that Big Brother’s reboot will be “the biggest thing out there”.
“Things have moved on – there are changes in TV. I’m presuming there’ll be differences but what never changes is the housemates and the tasks, these strangers come from all walks of life.
"Who are they? We’ll find out all their idiosyncrasies and what makes them tick. We’ll have the ones we want to boo and the ones we love."
He added: “That’s a thing that will never change. It’s a unique format that nothing else comes close to.”
Big Brother continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2 on ITVX
