BRIT Awards 2021 host Jack Whithall took a savage swipe at Piers Morgan as he opened the glitzy ceremony on Tuesday night.
The 32-year-old comedian told the crowds that the O2 Arena had been "emptier than Piers Morgan's diary" since the coronavirus pandemic.
His comments come just weeks after Piers, 56, decided to quit his role on Good Morning Britain.
Viewers rushed to their keyboards to discuss Jack's cheeky dig, while some predicted that the former newspaper editor will fire back in the near future.
Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "Piers Morgan's diary hahahaha."
Another added: "Jack Whitehall taking the mick out of Piers Morgan is my favourite thing."
A third person posted: "@piersmorgan ranty tweet about #BRITs incoming in 5 4 3 2 1.."
While a fourth social media user said: "OMG Jack roasting Piers."
In the weeks since his departure from the ITV programme, many famous faces have made quips about Piers and how much time he now has on his hands.
The outspoken presenter made his dramatic exit from Good Morning Britain back in March as part of the fallout from Meghan Markle’s, interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Coldplay opened the ceremony and were followed by singing sensation Dua Lipa.
As well as paying homage to the audience in the arena who were made up of frontline workers, the comedian also made a few jokes.
Following the joke about Piers, Jack continued to discuss how the easing of lockdown restrictions meant events could go ahead with social distancing regulations in place.
It was confirmed last month that the Brit Awards would go ahead with a live audience as part of the government's research into how live events might work after the pandemic.
The 4,000-strong audience won't need to wear masks or be socially distanced, but will need a negative Covid test.
It's the latest addition to the Events Research Programme, which examines how venues and events can reopen safely.
