Cheryl performs JIVE on the Greatest Dancer after 30 years without practise

After weeks of judging the talent on The Greatest Dancer, Cheryl and Oti finally stepped out from behind their desk to wow the audience with some moves of their own.

The pair jumped onto the stage after being inspired by a same-sex dance couple.

Married couple of a year Santra and Piia, who had travelled all the way from Finland for their audition, performed a Latin American routine to Jackie Wilson’s Reet Petite.

Before they’d even taken to the stage, Strictly Come Dancing pro Oti was heard saying: "I’m excited and I hope they’re going to be good."

After the lively routine, Oti and Cheryl jumped to their feet to give the ladies a standing ovation.

"Amazing!" cried Oti. "Yes, yes, yes amazing!"

Cheryl then piped up: "I want to do the jive with Oti."

Wasting no time, Oti urged her co-judge to join her on the dancefloor to huge cheers from the audience.

The music then replayed as Oti and Cheryl looked delighted to seize the chance to show off as they kicked their legs and swivelled their hips as part of their impromptu routine.

"Cheryl knows the moves," observed one impressed audience member.

Santra and Piia then joined in for a celebratory end to their audition as they sailed through to the next round.

And it won’t be the last we’ll see of Oti and Cheryl’s skills in the competition.

During an appearance on the One Show this week, the judges revealed that they’ll both be dancing live on The Greatest Dancer as the series progresses.

“I don’t know if I’m going to be told off for saying that, but we are dancing,” said Cheryl.

The live shows will begin in week five of the competition on Saturday 2nd February.

The Greatest Dancer continues every Saturday night on BBC1
