After having a one night stand, Coronation Street’s Imran Habeeb (played by Charlie De Melo) has been keeping a dark secret from his girlfriend, Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor). With the couple fostering a daughter, Imran comes clean to Toyah but keeps a major detail to himself – the woman is Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) after she went missing due to her son Seb Franklin’s (Harry Visinoni) death. Will the lies end there, or is there more in store for Imran’s and Toyah?
Imran and Toyah were getting their house ready for their new foster daughter Elsie’s arrival when Imran had to leave for work, leaving Toyah frustrated about his priorities.
Walking into his office, ex-wife Sabeen Habeeb (Zora Bishop) was sitting at his desk waiting for his arrival.
He soon told her that he was no longer willing to help her try and get drug lord Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) out of prison, despite her knowing about his infidelity.
Knowing he could no longer lie to his girlfriend, Imran returned home and came clean to Toyah leaving her heartbroken and devastated.
After Toyah told him how amazing he was, she asked him whether he had any doubts about fostering Elsie, as he looked at her worryingly.
He told her: “There’s something I need to tell you before she gets here and before we start making promises we can’t keep.
“You know that night after Kelly’s verdict, I didn’t stay at Sabeen’s all night like I said I did, I was having a one night stand.”
Immediately Toyah looked shocked and started to cry: “You really slept with someone else? Oh you pig, you dirty stupid pig, how could you do that to me!?”
Trying to justify his actions, he told her: “I was a mess after the trial,” but before he could finish, she asked: “Well, who was it?”
Continuing his lie, Imran told her he didn’t know who it was and that it was a random woman he had met at a hotel bar.
“I couldn’t sleep at Sabeen’s, so I left I ended up in some random hotel bar met some random women I didn’t even get her name.”
Confused as to what she had just heard, Toyah asked: “Why are you telling me this now, on the day when our new foster daughter arrives?”
Imran told her that he was being blackmailed by Sabeen to help get Harvey out of prison and didn’t want to tell her for fear of losing her.
Heartbroken at her boyfriend’s deceit, Toyah left and soon ran into Pete Barlow (Chris Gascoyne), who convinced her that everybody makes mistakes.
Returning home, she told Imran: “I wasn’t going to let Elsie down, I hate you for what you’ve done, but I do still have feelings for you, I just don’t know if it’s enough.
“You slept with someone else, and if it weren’t just that, but you tried to help get Harvey out of prison, and all the time, you kept your dirty little secret whilst we shared a bed together.
“Honestly, I don’t know if I can move past this, I think maybe I want to try (but) I can’t promise that I won’t just snap though and change my mind and scream at you to get out.”
Accepting her rules, he was keen to run to the store and buy supplies for their new foster daughter, but he needed to do more than buy hot chocolate.
Running down the street, he called an unknown person telling them they needed to meet, which soon revealed Abi Franklin.
“I’m sorry I had to be honest with her,” Imran told her, but she immediately threw back an insult and called him an “idiot”.
He asked her: “I just need to know if you’re going to say anything to Kev?” to which she exclaimed: “Oh yeah, I’m going to shout it from the rooftops, local slappers back lock up your husbands.
“I need for you to stop hassling me I haven’t got space in my head for things like this I’ve got bigger things to worry about, so just back off.”
Is there more to their relationship than they have revealed?
Could Abi be pregnant with Imran’s baby, causing her to have doubts over her marriage to Kevin?
