Coronation Street fans baffled as they hear Stephen Reid’s ‘real voice’ for first time in behind the scenes video | The Sun

FANS of Coronation Street have been left baffled after hearing Stephen Reid's 'real accent' in a behind the scenes clip.

The evil businessman – played by actor Todd Boyce – is at the centre of the ITV soap opera as part of its current Super Soap Week.

Stephen has taken centre stage as all of his wicked crimes finally appear to be catching up with him.

Earlier this week, fans saw him strangle and attempt to kill Tim Metcalfe in brutal scenes.

It involved a horror car journey where Stephen strangled Tim with his tie before beating him outside of the car and knocking him out cold.

The chaotic action saw the Coronation Street producers go to great lengths to create epic scenes which saw a stunt double stand in for Tim for the violent fracas.

A behind the scenes video put the work of the cast and crew on full display but fans of the show were immediately left saying the same thing as actor Todd spoke to the camera.

They were left taken aback as they heard his 'real voice' for the first time.

Having been brought up in Canada, Stephen speaks with a thick accent but in reality he sounds completely different.

Todd was actually born in the US but has been based in the UK for most of his adult life – having first appeared on Corrie back in 1996.

As such, his accent is much more subtle in real life and sounds more similar to that of a typical British accent.

Reacting to hearing Todd's voice for the first time, one baffled fan said: "Todd’s real accent has thrown me."

Another added: "That's the first time hearing Todd Boyce' voice and I feel a bit weirded out. You know an actor does their job well when the voice they use in character gets ingrained in your head."

A third penned: "Todd Boyce's own accent sounds a lot better than that crappy Canadian one he puts on can't wait to see what happens to Stephen."

Before a fourth wrote: "Why didn’t they just let him do his own accent I’d probably preferred that to the annoying fake one he has."
