Popular Coronation Street character Evelyn Plummer is in danger in the coming weeks, as she finds herself involved in a dognapping.
In coming episodes, Evelyn spots a man mistreating his dog on the street and she quickly approaches him.
It isn’t long before her close friend Roy Cropper comes to her rescue and backs her up.
However, he is terrified as the dog owner, Terry, starts to turn on him, but Evelyn’s daughter, Cassie Plummer, comes to get involved.
As Cassie comes to their rescue, Roy films the man on Evelyn’s phone, and her grandson, Tyrone Dobbs, reports him to the police.
Later, Evelyn is exhausted, and she admits to Roy that she hasn’t slept as she has been worrying about the dog all night.
The drama doesn’t end there as Terry pulls up outside of the charity shop where Evelyn volunteers and she is appalled when he walks off and leaves the dog inside of the van.
Evelyn can hear the dog whimpering and as a result, decides to take the dog out of the van and return home with the animal in tow.
She takes the dog to number nine for Tyrone’s children, Hope Stape and Ruby Dobbs, to enjoy.
The two youngsters love having the dog at home and decide to call it Taylor after the pop icon Taylor Swift.
While they are happy at home, Evelyn is cornered in the precinct by Terry who asks about the whereabouts of his dog.
Evelyn denies any knowledge of what has happened to the animal as she looks to keep it under wraps.
When she returns home, she is horrified to find Cassie walking Taylor along the street and bundles them back into the house as the panic sinks in.
What they didn’t know was that Tony had been watching them from across the street the whole time.
Terry tracks down Evelyn at the shop, and as he enters, he switches the sign from open to closed and bolts the front door.
He advances on Evelyn, demanding to know what she has done with his dog, but will she tell him the truth?
While Terry and Evelyn are inside the shop, her boss, Dev Alahan, arrives and finds the door locked, so gets Gary Windass to break the door in.
Once the dramatic exchange resolves itself, Tyrone hopes that they won’t see Terry anymore, but he soon arrives at the garage and hands him his contact details, demanding that the dog be returned by 6pm, or he will regret it.
Tyrone is rattled by his demands as he knows that Roy has taken Taylor to the rescue centre.
Evelyn knows that they have no choice but to go and get the dog back and return her to Terry.
However, when Tyrone reveals that Terry has been released from jail on bail, Evelyn is certain that the police will be after her next.
Will the long-standing soap icon be arrested for trying to help?
