Coronation Street newcomer to cause drama for Carla after Christmas fall-out

Britain’s Got Talent star Jack Carroll is set to join the cast of Coronation Street later this year.

The actor and comedian first rose to fame back nine years ago after being the runner-up on the seventh series in the ITV talent show at 14 years old.

Jack’s stand-up routine was a huge hit with the judges and viewers at home as the comedian has gone on to have a successful career.

Along with appearing on Saturday Night at the London Palladium, Jason Manford’s Funny Old Week and Live At the Apollo, Jack also went on to become an accomplished actor.

Shortly after his BGT stint, Jack went on to star in Ministry of Curious Stuff on CBBC, Trollied and Doctors, although now he’s heading to the cobbles.

ITV has revealed that Jack has been cast in the role of Bobby, Carla Barlow’s (played by Alison King) nephew.

However, the Underworld boss had no idea of her family member’s existence until he shows up in Weatherfield over the festive period.

Bobby will be playing the son of Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis), Carla’s brother who is currently serving life in prison for the murder of Tina McIntyre ( Michelle Keegan).

Rob was unaware he had a son until recently and also failed to let Carla know about the newest family member.

Bobby will turn up on the cobbles just after Christmas following a fall-out with his mum and looking for somewhere to stay.

Described as a “livewire chip off the old block” Bobby will have the gift of the gab and an eye for the ladies.

It looks as though Carla has trouble on her hands with her new nephew as he’s able to run rings around her and it’s evident he plans on sticking around.

With filming starting this week, Jack had nothing but praise when speaking about joining the cast.

He said: “I’m delighted and honoured to be playing a part in the history of the cultural institution that is Coronation Street.

“I hope Bobby brings viewers a lot of laughs in the vein of some of the street’s classic comedy characters.”

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV from 8pm.
