Geoff Metcalfe (played by Ian Bartholomew) returned to Coronation Street earlier this month after being discharged from hospital following Yasmeen Nazir’s (Shelley King) attack. While Yasmeen is behind bars awaiting her trial, it seems Geoff has a new target in his sights – Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) should watch her back.
For over a year, Geoff has been abusing his wife; mentally, emotionally and physically.
From killing her beloved pet chicken Charlotte Bronte and forcing her to eat it, to throwing out her clothes and making her wear the ones he had bought, Geoff also took financial control, giving Yasmeen a few pounds a week to shop.
He even timed how long she was out the house for and tracked her movements when she was inside via a CCTV camera he had set up.
But a few weeks ago, Yasmeen reached breaking point and in a moment when she feared for her own life, she lunged at Geoff with a broken wine bottle, slashing his jugular.

While she awaits her trial, Geoff has settled back into Weatherfield, despite Alya bashing him in public at every opportunity.
In recent scenes, Coronation Street fans thought Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) was going to be Geoff’s next target.
But it seems the actor who plays the master manipulator and teased someone else; Alya.
During a recent conversation, Ian spoke about the moment Geoff returned to his house to find Alya and her boyfriend Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) had changed the locks to stop him from entering.
Geoff was “furious” Ian revealed, “although he wouldn’t show it”.
“But he’s playing the victim again,” the actor continued.
“Alya is becoming a constant irritation and he’s looking to find a way of keeping her quiet and stopping her from influencing other people.
“So he has to be on his mettle with her at all times to refute the accusations she levels at him.”

Does this mean Geoff could get revenge on Alya for trying to expose him?
After all, Geoff is hell-bent on painting Yasmeen as the evil one.
Meanwhile, some fans are worried Yasmeen is going to change her plea.
She shocked the courtroom when she stood up and said was not guilty.

But in a following scene, during a conversation with Alya, the extent to which Geoff still controls Yasmeen was evident.
She expressed concern when Geoff would be told about her choice, leading some viewers to think she would buckle under the pressure.
Will Geoff ever get his comeuppance?
Coronation Street returns on Monday at 7.30pm on ITV.
