Maria Connor (played by Samia Longchambon) has had over 30 lovers during her 20-year stint on Coronation Street, but she is currently married to super-villain, Gary Windass (Mikey North). It seems she and her husband have turned against the residents of Weatherfield after being done over by the neighbours for the last time. This has led the loan shark to strike a deal with ruthless businessman Ray Crosby (Mark Frost) who has a plan to demolish the cobbles in scenes which will air during the ITV soap’s 60th anniversary week in December. However, will he regret his decision as his wife falls into bed with his fellow villain?
In recent scenes on the weeknight serial drama, Gary agreed to sell his share of the Underworld Factory to the businessman only if he was the man to drive the bulldozers to flatten the cobbles.
Upcoming episodes will see the super-villain begin to manipulate the residents of Weatherfield into selling their properties so Ray can begin his regeneration project.
This means the pair will be spending a lot more time together and with Maria also having her own agenda for getting her husband in on the deal, she will probably be sharing more scenes with her husband’s business partner.
As her other half focusses more on destroying the place where they live rather than working on their relationship, she could begin to flirt with Ray.
He’s unlikely to stop her advances and as a result, a steamy affair could begin, but if Gary were to find out, he would be gunning for revenge.
Soap star and Maria actress Samia Longchambon, 38, recently spoke about her character’s future with Gary and it’s fair to say, it doesn’t look too positive.
Speaking on ITV chat show Lorraine, the star said things “weren’t looking good for the couple” as she added: “It was going to happen.
“I don’t think Maria is ever going to find her Prince Charming and certainly not in Gary, but at the moment she’s wearing blinkers.
“She’s trying to see the best in him and she thinks she’s won the jackpot with him but it’s all going to come out in the wash.”
Don’t think Maria is going to find Prince Charming
With the actress teasing a split from her character’s husband, the possibility of an affair with another resident could be on the horizon.
Ray has tried to pursue several women on the cobbles since he turned up last year, but Maria could finally be the one to fall for his charms.
Since he’s begun venturing down a darker path, however, Gary is certainly not one to be double-crossed or betrayed.
In the last year or so, people who have got on his wrong side have ended up dead and he could see his wife and business partner as his new victims.

Teasing what’s to come from the soap’s 60th-anniversary episodes, ITV bosses have said two residents will be keeping a secret which “will ruin their lives and those around them” if all is revealed.
If Gary does discover the truth about Maria’s affair, he could use Ray’s own plan to flatten the cobbles as part of his revenge plan.
As the bulldozers turn up, the super-villain could get behind the wheel and put his foot on the accelerator as he drives towards the ruthless businessman.
Unfortunately, his wife could get caught in the crossfire as she realises she has developed feelings for her secret lover.
As the dust settles and the repercussions of the anniversary episodes become clear, will any members of the love triangle make it out alive?
Following the reveal of Ray’s plans in Friday’s episode, viewers quickly took to Twitter to comment on the fact the cobbles could cease to exist.
One fan wrote: “Gary’s actually teaming up with Ray of all people to basically destroy the whole street now seriously? Why exactly? #Corrie.”
Another added: “#Corrie Don’t sell your soul to the devil Gary. Just sit back & let Ray take his revenge on the Platts.”
Should Gary listen to the cries from viewers as his life could change forever thanks to the ruthless businessman?
Coronation Street continues Monday at 7:30pm on ITV.
