ITV soap fans have been worrying about the future of Coronation Street’s Abi Franklin (played by Sally Carman) over the past month, ever since the result of the recent murder trial. Regular viewers will remember her son Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) was murdered earlier this year in a shocking hate crime attack. While Kelly Neelan (Mollie Gibson) was sent to prison for the murder, the real culprit, Corey Brent (Maximus Evans), was found not guilty. Abi fled the cobbles following the devastating result of the trial but is soon set to return.
However, could she end up putting her own life on the line as she attempts to get revenge on Corey?
Sally Carman, who plays Abi in the hit ITV soap, opened up about her character’s future in a recent interview.
Speaking to Express.co.uk and other press, Sally revealed there will be lots of Abi action coming up in Super Soap Week.
She explained she’s already done several night shoots for the upcoming October episodes.
Detailing what Coronation Street fans can expect to see, Sally remarked: “Stunts galore!
“It’s been so much fun and, you know, it’s one of those storylines as an actor that you just go, ‘Oh, come on, let’s have it!’
“So, yeah it was brilliant,” she added, speaking about her filming experience.
When asked if she was excited to be a big part of Super Soap Week, Sally replied: “Yeah, of course, I am. Yes, I’m delighted to be a part of it.
“When we were in the studio last week doing the stunts and whatnot, I was just pinching myself.
“I was just like ‘How? I get to do this?’ So, yeah I’m really, really happy,” she added.
Teasing the upcoming plot further, the soap star noted: “It’s a funny one as well because, you know, in real life I guess things wouldn’t automatically go to the lengths that they do sometimes.
“But, I guess that’s the beauty of being in a soap,” she added.
Sally commented on how enjoyable it is to be able to “push the boundaries” on Coronation Street.
She also hinted viewers will see how determined Abi really is to get justice for her murdered son.
The actress explained: “It’s like she’s been driven by a force that she can’t stop and it’s slightly out of her hands as well because she just has to do what she’s going to do.”
“There’s nothing that she’s not capable of doing,” Sally said, warning fans to “watch out” for what Abi will do next.
The soap star teased ahead to Abi’s dramatic return to the cobbles and potential revenge plot against Corey.
“It’s ridiculous, it’s outrageous, and it was such good fun!” Sally remarked.
As the actress has revealed she’s had to perform stunts for the upcoming scenes, this could suggest Abi will be put in danger.
Could the grieving mother end up returning to Coronation Street to attack Corey in a violent assault?
If so, she may end up putting herself in danger by resorting to such extreme measures.
If Abi doesn’t act quick enough with her planned revenge, Corey may realise what she’s up to.
As a result, Corey could turn on Abi and get physical before she’s able to carry out her revenge.
Will she hurt herself in a violent fight with her son’s killer? And could she end up losing her own life in the process?
Coronation Street continues tonight at 7:30pm on ITV.
