Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny teased in trailer
When Bob Iger returned as Disney boss just under a year ago, he’d come out of retirement to save the company in time for its 100th birthday.
However, the studio has suffered painfully at the 2023 box office, having lost almost $1 billion, at around $900 million in total.
This is largely due to mixed to poor reviews for movies like Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and Haunted Mansion dissuading audiences from heading to the cinema. What made matters worse was that some of these films had massive budgets.
Harrison Ford’s final Indy movie cost $300 million and made just $383.2 million globally, with an estimated loss of $100 million.
This makes the blockbuster one of Disney’s biggest bombs since 2012’s John Carter.

According to Bloomberg, Iger has been feeling the strain of Disney’s box office woes.
Sources close to the CEO said he was “overwhelmed and exhausted” by this plus the company’s other problems.
These include less attendance at Disney World in Florida and Disney+ subscriber decline. Who knows how the Mouse House will fare as it begins its second century?
