EastEnders death danger as Alfie is carjacked by an armed gunman

Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) stares down the barrel of a gun in EastEnders next week after a masked man jumps into the back of his cab and demands that he be his getaway driver.

The former Queen Vic landlord is keeping things ticking over at the cab office in old flame Kat Slater’s (Jessie Wallace) absence, and he assures her that he’s got everything under control at home too.

In a bid to keep Bert and Ernie busy, he challenges them to guess the code to Phil Mitchell’s (Steve McFadden) safe, and being the clever clogs that they are, they ultimately work it out – which is no surprise given the twins’ penchant for mischief.

But what does come as a surprise, however, is the amount of cash stored inside the safe, and when Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) shows up, Alfie hurries the boys to put the money back where they found it.

Alfie’s attention is soon elsewhere, as he’s forced to take Vi Highway (Gwen Taylor) to bingo after Mitch Baker’s (Roger Griffiths) cab breaks down, but he decides to use the excursion to his benefit, hoping to stop by a video game store to get his hands on the zombie game that Tommy (Sonny Kendall) desires.

Things, however, take a shocking turn, as a masked gunman named Keith – who has just robbed a building society – jumps into the cab and orders him to be his getaway driver!

Alfie does as he’s told, but – refusing to disappoint Tommy – he takes a great risk as he drives to the shop to get the game, and successfully makes the purchase.

But his luck ultimately runs out, as Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) calls, revealing that Bert and Ernie told her all about the game they played earlier, and Keith overhears that the safe contains £30,000!

Holding Alfie at gunpoint, he orders him to take him to Phil’s house to get his hands on the cash!

Will Alfie do as he’s told?

That would seemingly be a ‘yes’, as subsequent scenes see Tommy tell Alfie that Phil’s money has gone missing!
