Matthew Wolfenden cries on This Morning over his Emmerdale exit montage
In the aftermath of Lydia Dingle’s (played by Karen Blick) rape, the character made an impulsive decision in Emmerdale.
Emmerdale viewers have hit out over Lydia’s decision to “burn the evidence” of her attack during Wednesday’s instalment of the soap.
During the episode, Lydia took the clothes she was raped in up into the woods and set fire to them.
Fans watched on in horror, with many questioning the move on social media as they thought she was going to the police station.
Taking to Twitter, Leah Allen shared: “Lydia, no! Don’t burn the evidence.”

Todd warned: “If anyone has to go through what Lydia went through, don’t do anything that she did afterwards. #Emmerdale.”
Bernice wrote: “#Emmerdale so now the whole woods will go up in flames. Why couldn’t they make the story where Lydia went to the police and reported it.”
Pam penned: “Poor Lydia may be in denial about her horrific attack, but she will be believed. It must be difficult to relive what happened to her and talking about it makes it real… But she must report it. This man thinks what he did wasn’t a crime. He’s a serious predator #Emmerdale.”

Lydia was raped by her childhood friend Craig Redd (Ben Addis) on the ITV soap earlier this week.
He forced himself on her in the workplace and once she got home she sobbed in the shower.
Will Lydia end up reporting the crime to the police or will Craig get away with the assault?
