Cain (played by Jeff Hordley) has been locked in a bitter dispute with his estranged wife Moira (Natalie J Robb) since he discovered she was sleeping with his long-lost son, Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter), during explosive scenes last year on Emmerdale. It doesn’t look like the pair are anywhere near reconciliation, so the ITV soap bad boy could see his eyes wander as he pursues a new lover. However, did tonight’s episode reveal who the father-of-three has on his radar?
The village bad boy was resentful of his son at first, given the circumstances of how he came to learn of his true identity.
Following the revelation of the youngster’s affair with Moira, it wasn’t long before Cain’s ex-girlfriend Cara Robinson (Carryl Thomas) turned up and the parents were at each other’s throats given the unsteadiness of their break up years before.
Having now both settled in the Dales, the loveable rogue has warmed to their presence but he still accidentally shot his son last month.
With the former farmhand still recovering from his injury, both his mother and father tried to suggest what was best for him this evening, but it seemed there was still chemistry between the pair.

As Cain arrived to help Sam Dingle (James Hooton) carry out some work on Cara’s house, he walked in on his son arguing with his mother.
Having gone for a drink with Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) the night before, the youngster’s mother wasn’t shy in voicing her concerns about the blossoming relationship.
“I’m sure Cain would agree it’s not the best use of your time,” she remarked, to which her son asked: “What’s that supposed to mean?”
The village bad boy didn’t help her case, as he added: “Yeah, fill us in why don’t you.”
Cara tried her best to justify herself, but her son hit back as he referenced his own parent’s troubles in love: “You’re treating her [Tracy] like she’s not good enough, which is exactly what his family did to you.”
The over-protective mother was left to her own thoughts, but later on in tonight’s instalment, she and Cain had an honest conversation.
“It was nothing personal against Tracy.
“I just don’t feel she’s the best rehab for his injury,” the bad boy’s former lover declared.

I’m just trying to protect him
After admitting it was good Nate was upon his feet, Cara said: “Yeah, taking it easy, not throwing himself into a brand new relationship with the first person since…”
With Moira’s affair with their son being the elephant in the room, Cain broke the ice by replying: “He could do a lot worse than Tracy. Anyway, it’s not really your call is it?”
“I’m just trying to protect him,” his son’s mother continued, but the bad boy couldn’t help but bring up their troubled past yet again.
“Yeah, that’s the line my mother used to explain why I had a son I never knew,” he commented, with his former lover looking sympathetic over the way her son’s father was treated.

“Fine, I’ll make it right, if it stops you looking so superior,” Cara told Cain, with the latter part of her response being a bit more playful in tone.
“That’s just my face, but I’m glad it helped,” the bad boy replied, with both sharing a tender moment before he left the house.
With their troubles finally on the table and actually acting like parents to Nate, will the former lover’s find themselves back in each other’s arms?
Watching her estranged husband move on from their marriage, will Moira be left heartbroken as she comes to terms with never winning her other half back?
