Emotional Danielle Lloyd reveals SAS Who Dares Wins brutal interrogation scenes gave her domestic violence flashbacks | The Sun

DANIELLE Lloyd has revealed the brutal SAS: Who Dares Wins interrogation scenes gave her flashbacks to experiences of domestic violence.

The model, 39, recalled how being covered with a hood and marched to the directing staff where she was quizzed about her life proved to be triggering.

Despite the panic-inducing ordeal coming close to overwhelming her, a defiant Danielle saw it through.

She explained in an exclusive interview: "I wanted to prove to myself that maybe I am not physically strong but mentally I'm a really strong, strong person.

"I have been through a lot in my life. Losing a baby and domestic violence and going through that in my past was really, really tough.  And it did mean that having the DS screaming in my face was a massive trigger but I just had to get on with it.

"I hated being hooded because I felt like I wasn’t in control and that took me back to not being not being in control of my own life.

"When I had the hood on for the first time, it was literally terrifying. I just remember not being able to breathe. I was hyperventilating. And they said, 'What's wrong with you?' And I was like, 'I don't feel like I'm in control'. There were loads of times when I thought I was going to drop out but when I got out of there I felt like 'no one is going to bring me down'."

Mum-of-five Danielle opened up on the physical and mental abuse she suffered as a teen in a televised interview late last year.

She didn't name her abuser but detailed the horrific nature of the relationship, from being hit with chair to being spat on, on a daily basis.

Danielle has worked with Women's Aid in the past and is keen to make another documentary on domestic violence to help others that might be going through what she did.

Therapy played a significant role in helping Danielle come to terms with the abuse she suffered.

"It really made me realise I didn't have to be in that situation," she said. "I was so young, I think I was only 16 at the time. So yeah, it was all I knew. Yeah, it was my first relationship. Then, I went from one bad relationship to the next and he was even more violent than the first one.

"But I feel like as you grow up, you realise that, actually, that was not the norm.

"I feel like I have had to go through a lot of therapy my whole life. I feel like even now talking about it obviously brings up bad memories.  But it all like helps me move forward in life. I feel like if that didn't happen to me, maybe I wouldn't be the person I am today."
