Fans quickly branded the 71-year-old "Mary Berry's long-lost horny sister" and even said there's a place waiting for her on Geordie Shore.
Sitting down with 68-year-old Tony she told him: "I would hate to think I met a man who didn't want to have sex.
"I can't imagine going away for a weekend or few days and not being intimate."
But twice-married Tony was left reeling, replying: "I'm a bit scared by that. I think I may be out of my depth with you, darling."
The grandmother of nine – who said pals gave her "inflatable men with all their appendages" – later opened up to First Dates supremo Fred Sirieix.
While Tony was in the toilet, she whispered: "He doesn't think he can have sex. He's saying that it'd be a problem for him.
"Now, I have to say, honestly, if it was to be a permanent relationship, that would be a problem for me."
She later confronted Tony about the issue, only for him to reply: "I'm not gay. Everything works. It's just… maybe a bit of patience?"
Fans were far less polite, with one tweeting: "Ruth just wants to get LAID!"
Another said: "Blimey Ruth….as a Geordie you should try Geordie shore??."
A third gasped: "I can’t believe Ruth brought the subject of sex up on a first date ??."
But plenty of viewers applauded her honest attitude, writing: "Ruth cant freaking wait to get busy… too right grams."
Another said: "No messing about there Ruth, at least she's upfront and honest about her needs and desires."
Others saw her as an inspiration in old age, posting: "If I’m still single at 70 ? I want to be like Ruth on @FirstDates #GrowOldDisgracefully #temptress #YoungAtHeart."
And Tony clearly wasn't that afraid, with the pair saying they would see each other again, and continuing the date.
The pair slipped away from the First Dates restaurant, in London's financial district, in a black cab.
