The Hairy Bikers: Si on spending Xmas together after Dave’s cancer battle
Si King explained how he would be enjoying the Christmas period with his best friend and Hairy Bikers co-star Dave Myers, who is battling cancer. The 57-year-old reflected on enjoying the Christmas period they “didn’t think they would get together”.
The Hairy Bikers: Coming Home for Christmas saw the pals reunited to thank all the people throughout the year who have helped Dave on his journey towards recovery, including the doctors and nurses who helped with his treatment and the food producers who helped him to fall back in love with food.
“I’ve missed this so much, Si, being with you – being us,” Dave commented during the BBC show as he and Si geared up for the big banquet.
He added: “It’s the first time I’ve been to visit a food producer for nearly two years.
“And it’s funny, it’s just like putting on some comfy slippers.”

Dave, 66, continued: “I’m determined to embrace every second of this magical time.
“You know, we’ve been doing this as mates for 30 years and we’re not finished yet.
“This visit has inspired us to throw a Hairy Bikers Christmas banquet to remember, just to say thank you to those people who’ve been so important, the people who have kept me alive this year, people who have fed me this year, people who have loved me this year.”

Speaking to the cameras, Si reflected: “It’s really, really important because it’s a Christmas that we didn’t think we’d have together as friends.”
“I want this to be the best ever Christmas this year, I really do – there’s life in the old dog yet,” Dave went on.
The banquet ended up being a huge success and saw the chefs serve up a three-course feast with a twist.
The duo ended up making bacon cakes and pancit noodles to roast beef with bone marrow and horseradish sauce complete with naan bread Yorkshire puddings, plus a fig and walnut tart.
“It’s special, you know. I want more now, I want to get back on it,” Dave commented afterwards.
“I’ve still got something left in me, you know,” he added.
