Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers flooded with support from fans after The One Show appearance amid cancer battle | The Sun

HAIRY Bikers star Dave Myers has revealed how he has dedicated recipes for his upcoming book to the people who cared for him during his cancer battle.

The BBC star has been open about his cancer journey ever since he was diagnosed last year.

On Tuesday's episode of The One Show, Dave and fellow Hairy Biker Si King joined Gabby Logan and Jermaine Jenas in the BBC studios, where the chef duo discussed the launch of their upcoming book, Ultimate Comfort Food.

Dave also explained he was still undergoing treatment for cancer and he had dedicated recipes in their new book to the nurses who had cared for him.

Fans of the star took to X(Twitter) to show their support for him through his journey.

One user wrote: " Good to see Dave Myers looking pretty well. Cancer is brutal and can make you look and feel horrific, so I am genuinely pleased he seems to be doing OK despite ongoing treatment. I wish you all the luck in the world, Dave. #TheOneShow."

"And you've actually dedicated the book and some of the recipes to those people who've helped you through and cared for you."

Dave revealed: "Oh yeah, I mean, I owe these people everything really – or else there wouldn't have been a book! There wouldn't be The Hairy Bikers."

The 66-year-old chef added: "Yeah, I have, and also, it's funny, I've been having treatment, and I'm still having treatment, but I go in for chemo, and the nurses come in and talk about food!

"[They're] from all over the world, so some of the recipes… We work the recipes up, but there's one from a Spanish nurse which is like everyday  paella, but it's with belly pork and black pudding."

Gabby then asked: "Did the nurse, she or he, did they make it for you?"

Dave disclosed: "No, no, but there's a Filipino nurse, a beautiful lady called Giya, and Giya makes these Filippino noodle dishes she brings into the hospital, and when I was having trouble eating, she'd bring me the noodles."

He went on: "And we've got that recipe in the book as well – I hope it's as good as hers, but it's got me on the path to recovery. It's all in the noodles!"

Si, 57, joined the conversation and added: "It's a reflection of the eclectic cuisine we have in the UK because we are, I'm very proud to say, a multicultural society, so everybody's comfort food is something different."

In April, Dave broke down in tears after celebrating a significant milestone following his battle with cancer.

He gave a health update and said: "It's a work in progress, but I've got my hair back.

Dave and Si will return to TV in the series "The Hairy Bikers Go West" later this year.
