HOLBY City's Jimmy Akingbola stressed that the Holby City cast was a ‘family’ as he spoke about his stint on the BBC medical drama.
The Tower star reunited with his former Holby City cast mate Chizzy Akudolu, and they opened up about their upcoming panel show.
Jimmy spoke about his time on BBC’s Holby City as Dr Antoine Malick and slammed show creators for not giving him ‘meaty’ storylines.
He also discussed his panel show, Sorry, I Didn’t Know, which has been recommissioned for a fourth season by ITV.
Sorry, I Didn’t Know first aired on TV after its pilot episode on ITV in 2016, before being commissioned again four years later.
The show, hosted by his former Holby City co-star Chizzy Akudolu, who played Mo Effanga in the medical drama and comedian Eddi Kadi, was successful during its run in black and now has a regular slot on ITV1.

Jimmy and Chizzy both got their first acting breaks in Holby City, and an interview with OK! magazine, the pair admitted that they still reminisced about their time in the shop and often felt nostalgic when thinking about it.
The Tower star laughed: “We would always tease each other about our medical knowledge.”
“Chizzy would always beat me. I might know my lines, but she would know exactly what she’s doing.”
“But it was a family, and for us to do that together, it was a dream come true. The only sad thing is that we didn’t get any meaty storylines, so we wanted to do something together.”

I’m A Celebrity’s latecomer campmates confirmed as two huge sports stars
Since their departure from the hospital drama, Jimmy and Chizzy have fronted Sorry I Didn’t Know.
The trio invited and tested comedians and celebs on their general knowledge of Black history.
Included in the guests for season 4 is Strictly’s Oti Mabuse, who kept her pregnancy a secret at the time of filming.
Chizzy disclosed: “I saw her bum, and I thought, ‘That’s changed!’ But I didn’t want to say anything. She was pregnant – who knew!”
Jimmy added: “She always said, ‘I would do it if I’m not doing Strictly,’ and so to have her this season was a joy.”
Strictly star Eddi will be welcoming his second series on the show, speaking about Eddi’s return, Jimmy said: “He’s been a king for many, many years, and it’s nice he’s getting this moment right now from Strictly.”
“Anybody can relate to his comedy, and I think that’s a part of his superpower.”
No subject is a miss from the show as they dive deep into black history from Henry VIII’s royal trumpeter, John Blanke, to Marie van Brittan Brown, the first African-American woman who invented the home security system.
The panellists are always left surprised by the little-known iconic and legendary Black figures featured on the show.
Chizzy continued: “Our show is about shining a light on people that we don’t really hear about, but we use their products every day.”
The co-stars also revealed that aside from Sorry I Didn’t Know, they would love to return to the BBC drama.
Chizzy revealed: “We did start thinking about a project, and then it fell by the wayside.”
“That would have been very interesting – we were playing husband and wife.”
Jimmy added: “There’s a Fleabag thing that we need to do.”
