NCIS: Sydney has released a first-look at the series prior to its release.
Posting a scene from an upcoming episode on Instagram, fans were introduced to NCIS Special Agent Michelle Mackey, and her second in command, Australian Sergeant Jim “JD” Dempsey.
Starring Home and Away’s Todd Lasance, the big-budget drama series is the Down Under version of the hit US TV action franchise.
Also featured in the cast is UK actress Olivia Swann, from D.C.’s Legends of Tomorrow.
This isn’t the first time the NCIC franchise has launched an international spin-off, as they had success with NCIS Los Angeles, NCIS Hawaii, and NCIS New Orleans.
NCIS is ranked as TV’s most-watched series and attracts an average of 12 million viewers per episode in the U.S.
NCIS: Sydney’s official logline reads: “With rising international tensions in the Indo-Pacific, a brilliant and eclectic team of US NCIS agents and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) are grafted into a multinational task force to keep naval crimes in check in the most contested patch of ocean on the planet.”
CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach said: “NCIS is one of the most popular series in the world and we’re thrilled to expand this franchise with a uniquely Australian twist.
“Featuring the stunning backdrop of Australia, the new series will incorporate the high-stakes intrigue, humour, and camaraderie that have kept fans captivated by the NCIS teams for over two decades.”
