HUGE TV star confirms they are 'in talks' to host Dancing on Ice as Holly's future remains unclear | The Sun

STEPHEN Mulhern has confirmed he is 'in talks' with ITV about presenting Dancing On Ice.

It follows speculation he would replace Phillip Schofield on the show, although his pal Holly Willoughby's future on the series remains up in the air.

Chatting to the Mail Online, ITV Catchphrase host Stephen revealed: "I used to do the spinoff show Defrosted and when I stood in for Phil when he wasn't too well, he had Covid, I really enjoyed it and it was so lovely being back with Holly.

"We had a great time together plus lots of the team were the same from when I did the ITV2 show.

"We are talking about it, but I promise you now that nothing is confirmed but if it happens, it will be absolutely amazing… if it doesn't, look, it doesn't. I promise you I would tell you if we had it confirmed at this point."

He also added that he is doing his homework in case the gig comes off.

Stephen said: "The lineup is the best it has been in a few years… I am keeping across the lineup, just in case… It is a huge staple, and it has been around."

The Sun have contacted ITV for comment.

It's currently unclear whether Stephen will be joined by Holly, who stunned fans when she quit This Morning earlier this month.

Her exit came after 14 years on the sofa.

Holly cancelled plans for a half-term holiday in Portugal with her kids as she has been so shaken by the ordeal.

The Sun recently revealed how Holly was being wooed by the BBC for a big money deal, but they have currently backed off to give her some breathing space.

A source said: “Holly isn’t going to be signed up on an exclusive deal for the BBC — or to be the face of any of their new shows — at this moment in time.

“Their golden handcuffs deals are few and far between and Holly was being lined up to become a major player for them.

“She was great on Freeze The Fear with (Dutch extreme athlete) Wim Hof and got down to the final two to host BBC’s reboot of Survivor.

“But after seeing everything that has unfolded over the past five months, the BBC want to give her some breathing space before making any offers.

“The ITV internal report into This Morning has still not been published either and the impact that could have also needs to be taken into consideration.”
