I was on Ex On The Beach and hated it – now I'm in acclaimed Netflix drama with A-list actor | The Sun

EX On The Beach star Declan Doyle has bagged himself a role in Netflix's Bodies, just a year after finding reality fame on the MTV show.

Declan, 32, is over the moon following the acclaimed drama's release – which sees Stephen Graham, 50, take the lead part.

The barber admittedly hated his time on Ex On The Beach, which saw him drafted in as Nathan Henry's former boyfriend at a Gran Canaria resort.

Following his stint in non-scipted telly, he's directed his attention towards acting projects – even taking a theatre school course earlier this year.

Declan told The Sun, "This is a big series but it felt much more organic acting than reality as filming Ex On The Beach was really tough for me. I wanted to go home every day.

“I landed the role with a self-tape and audition for the director through my acting agent.

"It was a surreal pinch-me moment having my own trailer and being on set with such a talented team.

"Acting has always been a big passion of mine and I’m so glad I decided to take a term at an acting school this year for TV and film to learn and perfect the skill and it paid off!"

Declan plays the lead running trainer for Amaka Okafor's DC Hassan – who he said was "amazing" to work alongside.

The model added, "It’s crazy having the opening line of the whole series. Watching myself on a worldwide Netflix show is wild.

"I’m so grateful to be apart of Bodies but I was so gutted I never got to act alongside Stephen Graham as I am a massive fan.

"He's an incredible actor but his character is set in a different timeline to mine."

Declan can be heard shouting, "Ladies, come on, let's go, let's go. It's a 10k run ahead of us. Let's go, kill it, come on," while leading a run across London's Milennium Bridge.

Netflix's new fictional crime series Bodies is based on the mind-bending graphic novel of the same name written by Si Spencer.

The official synopsis for the series reads: ''When a body – the same body – is found on Longharvest Lane in London's East End in 1890, 1941, 2023 and 2053, one detective from each period must investigate.

''As connections are drawn across the decades, the detectives soon discover their investigations are linked, and an enigmatic political leader – Elias Mannix (Stephen Graham) – becomes increasingly central.

''Did he have a part to play in the murder? Or is something far more sinister at play?

''To solve the mystery, our four detectives must somehow collaborate and uncover a conspiracy spanning over 150 years.''
