Former I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! contestant Matthew Wright sparked backlash when he made reference to Boy George's 2007 ordeal, saying he's glad the star hadn't "chained anyone to a door yet" after Monday night's episode.
The This Morning presenter was asked by co-hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield about his thoughts on Boy George's tantrum over food.
The presenter laughed, commenting on Boy George's behaviour saying: "I think that's him holding back!"
Furious fans on Twitter weren't as impressed with the quip, as one posted: "Any abuse is not something to make fun of @Matthew_Wright @thismorning should know better abuse victims deserve respect & understanding #BoyGeorge #ImACeleb.
"May I suggest you write an informed article supporting the victim instead of grabbing a cheap joke Matthew??" they continued.
Recalling his time in the Celebrity jungle back in 2013, Matthew thought it was a bit early for tensions to start rising.
"In the early days your quite well fed from the hotel, its normally after a week that people get annoyed," Matthew said.
