I’m A Celeb’s Grace Dent ‘couldn’t carry on’ as pals expose real reason for exit

Friends of food critic Grace Dent have reportedly revealed the real reason she quit I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and said she "couldn't carry on".

The 50-year-old decided to leave the ITV show prematurely on "medical grounds" which left her campmates stunned. Following her shock announcement, Grace was on a flight back to the UK just hours later.

But eagle-eyed viewers spotted that Grace appeared to be downcast while on the show even when she wasn't involved in a gruesome Bushtucker trial. And her close pals have allegedly confirmed fans' concerns by describing the MasterChef star as "broken".

An insider told The Sun: "She pulled the plug because she couldn’t carry on, mentally or physically. It has been incredibly difficult for her and it all became too much. The cold and wet weather, coupled with the punishing tasks and lack of food took its toll."

"Grace is incredibly talented and very passionate about politics, when she failed to get involved, it was clear she was feeling defeated."

The insider added: "It is the first anniversary of her dear dad George’s death in a few weeks, too, so that would have no doubt been playing on her mind."

After presenters Ant & Dec announced that Grace was nominated to take part in Sunday night's trial, Down The Tubes, Grace decided to leave. When her name was read out she appeared to give a blank expression, with pals saying it would have been the final straw.

Grace also showed signs that she was struggling on the hit show as she told her co-star Josie Gibson she wanted to leave. She said: "I’ve had enough. I’ve completely had enough. I just want to go home."

Insiders of the hit ITV show claimed Grace was becoming "more despondent". They also added that she looked very "low" on the show.

After it was announced that Grace had left on Monday night's show (November 28), fans headed to X, formerly known as Twitter to share their thoughts. One viewer wrote: "The fact people kept voting grace for trials when she visibly looked unwell pushed her too far."

While another echoed: "The way Grace Dent looked visibly unwell and people voted her for the challenge doesn’t sit right with me. I hope she’s okay."
