SOAP fans have been left panicking over the fate of one of their favourite characters in the cobbles.
One Coronation Street star is taking on a brand new role away from Weatherfield. Are they set to leave the ITV show for good?
Who is Sue Cleaver and who does she play in Coronation Street?
Born on September 2, 1963 and hailing from Barnet in Hertfordshire, Sue Cleaver has been a household name for the past two decades.
After studying at the Manchester Metropolitan School of Theatre, she began her acting career with a small role in an episode of A Touch of Frost.
She then starred in the acclaimed drama series Band of Gold before landing a role in the movie Girls' Night alongside Julie Walters and Vera star Brenda Blethyn.
In 1998, Sue appeared in the first series of The Cops before bagging another role in the BBC comedy show dinnerladies in which she appeared frequently between 1999 and 2000.
Sue is also known for her roles in This Is Personal: The Hunk for the Yorkshire Ripper and the Johnny Depp and Cate Blanchett film The Man Who Cried.
However, her life took a huge turn when she was cast as Eileen Grimshaw in Coronation Street, which earned her praise as she played the part of the mother of a son named Todd who struggles with his sexuality as he announces he is gay.
In 2022, she was also a contestant in the twenty-second series of I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and made a guest appearance in ITV's Loose Women.

The Corrie star will perform in the Olivier Award-nominated production of Sister Act the Musical.
Sue is set to take on the role of Mother Superior in the UK and Ireland tour which kicked off on October 16 in Cheltenham and is due to end in October, 2024, in Liverpool.
The actress will be joining the company for their dates in Brighton, Manchester, Cork, Belfast, Glasgow, York and Birmingham, from early March until May, 2024, and further casting for the same role is due to be announced.
"I’m thrilled to be stepping into the habit and joining the incredible company of Sister Act on tour", Sue said about her role in the musical.
"It’s been over 30 years since I’ve been on stage, but theatre has always been my first love. A chance to take on a role like this feels like heaven."
But with so much on her plate, Sue will have to take a step back from Weatherfield as she swaps her pints in the Rovers with Mother Superior's rosary beads.
An ITV source said the actress will be "taking a very very short break, just like other cast members have done in the past”.
However, fans will have to wait before they can find out how she will temporarily bow out of the program.
Could she be involved in a sinister storyline prior to her exit?
