Hollyoaks star Nick Pickard has revealed the most difficult part of getting set to step foot in camp as he lands on Australia's Gold Coast for the latest series of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
The 48 year old actor, who is dad to daughter Ellie, said that leaving his family behind was the "hardest part" of the whole experience.
The actor, who plays long suffering Tony Hutchinson on the Channel 4 soap landed at Brisbane airport in the early hours of Wednesday morning local time, 15 November, as the ninth contestant to join the line-up.
He joked: "I'm just here for a fishing trip. We'll have to wait and see how I get on with snakes and spiders."
But when asked if it was hard to leave his family behind he added honestly that "was the difficult part. It’s a long old fishing trip!"
Nick also insisted that he was unsure how his soap character was being written out of the hit Channel 4 show for a few weeks. He said: "Do you know what, I’ve not even asked them that. You sort of say you’re going and they sign you off."
Nick has also sought out advice from another jungle seasoned actor in the form of fellow Hollyoaks co-star Owen Warner, who did well in the Oz bush last year.
During an ITV promotional interview recorded before he left the UK when the line up was made official, Nick thanked bosses on the soap for allowing him to participate in I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
He said: "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and as soon as I was approached, I said 'yes'.
Nick, who has been a part of the show since it started said: "I am not quitting Hollyoaks to take part. My bosses have been really supportive of me doing it. Now it is getting near to going into camp, I am so excited.
"I am obviously not looking forward to eating kangaroo balls, but at the same time, I am looking forward to the trials – that’s the fun part of doing this show. I love the ones where you climb up and jump for a star, or the ones getting submerged in water."
Jamie Lynn Spears will be the last contestant to arrive and will become the tenth celeb to land at the airport and take part.
Sportsmen Frankie Dettori and Tony Bellew are expected to go into the show as latecomers.
