James McVey's bandmates admit they're worried about his dramatic weight loss in I'm A Celeb jungle after eating disorder battle

In an exclusive chat with The Sun Online, The Vamps' Tristan Evans and Brad Simpson said they are proud of their pal's generosity, but are concerned about his shrinking frame.

Tristan also said he's surprised the 24-year-old vegan hasn't lost his temper with his fellow campers – despite having a reputation for being "hangry".

Instead kind-hearted James has been giving 71-year-old Harry half his dinner in a bid to keep the ex-footie boss strong.

"Of course he's been struggling," said Tristan, 24.

"They're all on rations, with not much food. James gets very hangry, as do I, if we don't eat. We get really moody.

"I'm surprised he's not gone mad because I would have at this point. He's keeping it together and will share when he sees someone in need.

"He'll give them what they want, that's what's a lovely thing about James."

During his stint on I'm A Celeb James revealed his secret battle with anorexia that saw his weight plummet in the early days of his band's success.

The musician bravely opened up about his "negative relationship" with food, but The Vamps say his issue is firmly in the past.

Tristan explained: "Back in the day it was difficult for him.

"While on tour we were in different countries all the time never knowing what we were going to eat and James likes to be organised with what he eats in the day.

"We're obviously worried about him, but we can't expect him to join the jungle and not lose weight.

"It's going to happen because of the small amount of food they're having.

"We knew he would come out a lot skinnier, but he looks good. I don't know how much weight he's lost but he will definitely put it back on when he comes back.

"He'll have a nut roast with his family and then a glass of Malbec, or maybe a bottle."

The bandmates told how the last few weeks without James have been tough – and they even shed a tear when his letter from home was read out.

Tristan said: "We all cried. We were gone. It brought a tear to my eye.

"It's going to be nice to get him back into the studio and back to rehearsals for the next tour."

James will rejoin his pals Tristan, Brad and Connor Ball for a tour kicking off in April next year – and they have teased a special I'm A Celebrity tribute.

Tristan added: "If he wins it, which hopefully he will, I'd love to get a jungle chair in the middle of the stage and do a whole performance inspired by it.

Brad said: "He'll have to play the I'm A Celebrity theme tune. He might come back with some ideas for a new album."

The 23-year-old added: "We have the best fan base in the world so he could definitely win it.

"We've been supporting him loads, but James speaks for himself. He's a nice, normal lad and is very selfless in there.

"We're really proud of him and think he can take it all the way for The Vamps."
