Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page thought her worst nightmare had arrived when she found a string of missed calls from Ruth Jones.
She didn’t realise the sitcom’s co-creator was trying to contact her with the big news that the show was coming back after nine years for a TV special.
Joanna joked: “I thought: ‘Is she gonna tell me that there are some really dodgy photos of me that are gonna hit the newspapers?’”
Gavin and Stacey will return to BBC One on Christmas Day, with all the main cast back on board.

Ruth met co-writer James Corden in secret in the United States earlier this year to pen a new story about the much loved characters and once they were happy with it they told the actors.
She sent several messages to Joanna urging her to call back but the star failed to respond.
Joanna added: “She said ‘You need to speak to me. I need to talk to you about something’.
“I thought ‘For God’s sake just phone her’. And when she told me I was ‘Oh my god I am so excited’.”
