Strictly’s Jody Cundy admits he has ‘no confidence’
Strictly Come Dancing’s Jody Cundy opened up about not having any confidence in his upcoming performance with professional Jowita Przystal.
Jody and Jowita joined BBC Breakfast presenters Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt where they gave an insight into their upcoming performance on Saturday evening.
Jowita explained: “This week is a completely different dance, so it’s the Paso Doble, it is Latin, not Ballroom.
“So we got comments from judges that we need a bit more confidence from Jody so that is the thing that we are working on right now,” as Jody added: “In the Paso you need confidence.”
Naga noted: “So you have to channel, kind of, your almost flippant remark, the understatement of the show by the way, ‘I have done alright haven’t I?’.

“You need to channel… because you must have that arrogance and that confidence, and I don’t mean that negatively when you go into competition… surely?
“So you can bring that to the dancefloor?” to which Jowita interjected and shouted: “Do you have that?
“Because I am literally looking, I am pleading for that every day and there is none! He is just a humble and sweet person and honestly…”
Naga laughed: “No! And I am not doubting that, but you cannot be a winning Paralympian multiple times…”

Jody explained: “When I am racing I have got years of performance behind me and I know exactly what I am doing and I know how I am going to perform, and everything else.
“But the dancing I have four days behind me and it’s like I don’t even know which way I am going, left or right so I have no confidence.”
This week, Jody and Jowita are performing the Paso Doble to Thunderstruck by AC/DC with the hopes of impressing the judges.
Last week, they danced the Quickstep to I’m Sitting on Top of the World, by Bobby Darin, and ended up 11th on the leaderboard with a score of 21.
All four judges were initially impressed with Jody’s first dance, and despite some small technical issues, their biggest critique was for the athlete to be more confident in his steps.
Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday from 6:20pm on BBC One, with the results show airing Sunday from 7:15pm on BBC One.
