Laurence Fox has spoken publicly for the first time since his arrest, hitting out at the "malicious" cops who he claims seized his sons' phones and iPads.
The actor-turned-politician was taken into custody on Wednesday (October 4) after his political party – The Reclaim Party – shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) apparently showing six Met Police officers raiding his London home. A statement by the force later confirmed a 45-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit criminal damage to ULEZ cameras and encouraging or assisting offences to be committed.
Fox confirmed he had been released when he returned to social media on Thursday – this time using his personal account rather than that of The Reclaim Party – to provide an update to his followers concerning his 24 hours in custody. "Hello. I’m back," he wrote. "Had to get a new phone as the 6 police who were barrelling into my house yesterday have taken every electronic device, including my boys’ iPads."

He continued: "Which is just plain malicious. I have a lot to say about the last few days. Speak in a bit. Never give in."
Fox, who was fired by broadcaster GB News following his arrest, then issued a further rant on X, declaring that he "will never stop fighting" against the "pure cold tyranny" that he claims Britain has become. Still fuming about the police's actions, he wrote: "I am so upset about my kids phones and iPads being confiscated by the Stasi. (even though a screen break is no bad thing!). To take away the property of innocent children to antagonise their father, seems to me beyond malicious and beyond contemptible.
"We are facing a pure cold tyranny, which is getting hotter by the day. Schemes designed to immiserate the poorest and most vulnerable in society, whilst the rich can offset the entire price of an electric wonder wagon against their corporation tax are grossly unfair."
The father-of-two, who was married to Billie Piper for nine years before their 2016 divorce, then told his 427,000 followers he isn't afraid of being sent down. "The Britain I remembered lionised Robin Hood," he said. "Now we celebrate those who steal from the poor to give to the rich. I will never stop fighting. And I’m not scared of your jail cells. As long as I have a good book."
Fox's arrest came just moments after egulator Ofcom revealed his misogynistic comments about journalist Ava Jones during Dan Wootton Tonight on September 26 has become the most complained about matter of 2023 so far. GB News suspended him in the aftermath of the comments, before conducting an investigation, which led to his sacking on Wednesday.

GB News said: "Laurence Fox and [presenter] Calvin Robinson were both suspended last week pending internal investigations that have now concluded. As of today, GB News has ended its employment relationship with Laurence Fox and Calvin Robinson. The internal investigation into Dan Wootton continues."
Bosses at the channel have reportedly since held crisis talks as they try to keep the channel on the air following numerous scandals. Fox aside, Ofcom has opened 11 additional investigations into the station in the past fortnight.
Now, as the channel fights for its future, investors and managers at the broadcaster are said to have been meeting this weekend on how to manage the slew of bad publicity from the scandal. A former employee at the channel told The Observer that "it is crunch time for GB News".
Daily Star has contacted the Met Police for comment.
