Viewers were left devastated after actress Kelli Giddlsh announced she was leaving her role as Detective Amanda Rollins on NBC’s Law and Order SVU. However, it’s been revealed her co-stars were just as shocked, as Fin Tutola star Ice-T unveiled his initial disbelief.

Kelli was first introduced to viewers as Amanda Rollins in season 13 and quickly became a beloved member of the cast.

Her troubled childhood resonated with viewers, who loved the character, as she was able to help those who battled a similar trauma.

As a result, fans were left heartbroken when Kelli announced season 24 would mark her final appearance on the show, Amanda’s exit scheduled for December 8.

Her co-star Ice-T recently shared how surprised he was to learn the actress would be leaving the long-running drama.

The rapper-turned-actor stated: “It’s a sad thing. Me and Kelli were friends dog friends and all that, we became close.

“Kelli’s been here 10 years. It came from the top of the mountain, you know?

“When I heard about it, I called to check on my pulse, like, ‘What’s going on?’”

Ice-T continued: “But this is the business we’re in, and they shuffle the deck occasionally.

“I’m not even sure she’s gone until they shoot that episode… because you never know. Kelli will be missed,“ he added to People.com.

Ice-Twas cast as Fin in the season two episode, Wrong is Right, and has since become second-in-command to Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay).

Since he joined in 2000, he also became the longest-serving character on the show after Olivia.

After Kelli joined the special victims unit, she and Fin worked closely together as partners, to help victims of sexual crimes.

In a statement earlier this year, Kelli shared: “Playing Rollins has been one of the greatest joys and privileges of my life.

“I’ve been so fortunate to be a part of the Law & Order family for the last 12 years.

“There is simply no other character on TV like Rollins. She’s grown and changed, and I have as well.

“I started on this show when I was in my late 20s and I’m grateful I got to spend so many of my adult years with Rollins in my life.”

The actress thanked the cast and crew for their support and added: “I’m so excited to take all the things I have learned in my time on ‘SVU’ and put them toward everything that’s next to come.”

With viewers a few episodes away from saying goodbye to Amanda, many wondered how the show would set up for her exit.

Thankfully for fans, they got a glimpse of the upcoming episode with the release of a promo video, which provided a flashback to her first day and her reluctance to tell Oliva she was leaving.

As episode nine will also be the midseason finale, viewers will also witness Amanda and Dominick Carisi (Peter Scanavino) finally tying the knot.

Law and Order SVU season 24 continues on Thursdays on NBC in the US. A UK release date had yet to be released.
