The Loose Women panel opened Wednesday’s instalment of the ITV chat show debating how a criminal investigation has been launched into eight of the 16 alleged Downing Street lockdown parties. At a heated Prime Minister’s Questions, Labour leader Sir Kier Starmer urged Boris Johnson to publish Sue Gray’s findings on what went on under Covid-19 restrictions at the parties. However, Jane Moore lambasted the leader of the opposition for “obsessing about something where they are not going to get an answer”.

The panel debated the latest on the “partygate” scandals surrounding the Prime Minister, with Janet Street-Porter hitting out at the leader for “glossing over all the muck”.

The Loose Women presenter asked her co-stars: “But don’t you get the feeling that Keir Starmer isn’t really getting anywhere and we are in a loop?”

Moore agreed and said she believed politicians will not talk about Sue Gray’s report when it comes out because it is part of an ongoing investigation with the Metropolitan Police Force.

She fumed: “They will just keep trying to bide time and park it because I am getting to the point now where I wonder how many more times can we talk about this birthday party.”

Street-Porter interjected to make the point that the general public still want answers from the investigation.

But Moore explained: “So we’ve got the Ukraine issue, we’ve got the thing that you’re talking about there, the fact that £4.2billion in furlough fraud is going to be written off, we’ve got the National Insurance hike that’s pending.

“All of these things are the business of everyday government but they are not getting on with it because they are obsessing about something where they are not going to get an answer.

“Now I am all for when there’s a proper report in front of them you nail them to the wall on it.

“But until that time they are not going to answer the questions, so let’s just get on with the business of running the country.”

However, Street-Porter added: “But I do think the Daily Mail did a whole page today saying, ‘Enough of this, let’s move on.’

“But I do think for many people, what’s happened in the past 18 months has changed their lives forever and they are not going to forgive Boris Johnson easily.”

Jane added: “I just think a lot of it is pathetic and they do need to answer those questions but quite clearly they are not going to answer them now.”

The ITV star said the Prime Minister “will have to resign” if he’s proved to have broken the Ministerial Code.

The debate came after Johnson was told by Starmer he should resign because he was “doing damage” to the nation’s reputation.

But Johnson told the Labour leader he was “getting on with the job” and would stay on.

It is understood Gray’s report is essentially complete, however, according to the BBC, she’s not yet given it to the Prime Minister.

Cressida Dick, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, has said the force is looking into alleged breaches of coronavirus regulations from events in government buildings since 2020.

Some Conservative MPs have already called for the Prime Minister’s resignations, but many others have said they are waiting for the report to be released before deciding whether to submit letters of no confidence in Johnson.

At least 54 must write the chairman of the backbench 1922 committee to set up a vote on the leader’s future.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
